Surprisingly Canon Law does little to address Laicized Clergy. Your article above is possibly one that gives a Catholic guidance on what happens to clergy once laicized. However, no where can I find something that addresses a laity, who UNKNOWINGLY receives absolution from a laicized priest. While I can point that out I did learn a tremendous amount about the Church & Canon Law. Your article also contributed noting that laicized priest receive and have to sign a document acknowledging what they can and can’t do.Thank you – if you could comment on where I might find a more definitive answer to the question of unknowingly receives absolution it would be appreciated.thank you, Chris, for this thoughtful reflection and support of our incredible colleagues.Dear Hélène, Your comment, amongst others so moving and honest, is so profoundly beautiful, so crystal clear true, that I had to log in once more…thank you for this, to me, more than diamond…a Crystal…May it be heard ans seen by all….With love, Brahmani
